Khora Productions was set-up as an umbrella for the work of producer, Helen Goodman.
Helen would describe herself as a ‘creative producer’ in that she enjoys working collaboratively with artists and creatively designing projects from the outset. She has a strategic brain and is an expert car-boot-packer.
She initially trained at Bretton Hall College, holding a First Class BA in Dramaturgy – skills that inform her Producing practice today. She holds a PGCE from University of Cambridge and a Masters in Ensemble Theatre from Rose Bruford College. In 2014 Helen was nominated for the Arts Foundation Fellowship Award (Emerging Producer category).
Since 2016, Helen has been the Hull Independent Producer (HIPI) for Hull UK City of Culture 2017, in association with Hull Truck Theatre, Hull University and City Arts. Working with companies such as Middle Child, Silent Uproar, Roaring Girls, Bellow Theatre and many more, the role is the first of it’s kind and aims to provide ‘arms-length’ producer consultancy to artists living and working in Hull, whilst driving performing arts sector development.
She is core producer for French Choreographer Lola Maury. Helen and Lola began working together through The Place’s inaugural Hot House programme in 2014, which aimed to enrich the foundations of the Producer/Choreographer relationship under the guidance of Dutch Dramaturg Peggy Olislaegers.
Helen was previously core producer for Clout Theatre and has worked in varied project producer roles with RashDash, Forward Theatre Project, SLAPyork and Paperdollhouses amongst others. She is currently producing GROW festival for Hull Truck Theatre.
